Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs – Fitting Appointment

We offer exclusive use of the boutique for your appointment so we can give you our full attention. For this reason, we do ask that you pre-book to guarantee you will be able to view and try our wedding dresses on. Find out our FAQs below.

How long will my appointment take?

The bridal boutique is exclusive to the bride and their guests, each appointment is 1 hour 45 mins giving you enough time to choose the one.

Can I bring guests?

We love our brides to bring guests, we recommend a maximum of four guests.

What shall I wear on the day of my appointment?

What you would wear when you get married, such as shoes and lingerie. This will help you avoid extra adjustments after your purchase your dress.

Access To The Premises

To enter the premises there are 3 steps up to the door. To enter the changing room there are four narrow steps, however we can bring the bride in her dress into the main shop area and close the blinds to maintain privacy if anyone from the bridal party cannot manage the stairs.

Parking

There are a number of car parks in Alnwick, all of which are now free to park in. You will need to buy a parking disc which costs £1 and is available from a number of outlets in the town including the Tourist Information Centre.

The closest long stay car park is a 3 minute walk. Post code NE66 1SF. Parking outside the shop is limited to 1-2 hours

Photographs

We ask that no photographs are taken of any gown on the first appointment.
You are free to take photographs at the fitting appointments once your dress has been purchased.

FAQs – Bridal Alterations

We don’t include the price of alternations with the bridal gown. Bridal alterations can vary due to the works involved.
Most bridal dresses do need to be altered. We recommend alterations to be done by 1-2 months before the wedding.

Do you do bridal alterations in house?

No, we work with a selected few approved seamstresses from the local area. We can arrange for you to have the fittings
in the shop or at their premises. Payment for alterations is made directly to the seamstress.
You can also use your own seamstress.

How long does it take to order a dress?

A gown can take up to 9-12 months, however due to covid and brexit we recommend the earlier the better. We do have a quick service on selected few gowns which can take as little as 4 months from a select few providers. However there is a charge for the rush service.

What other stock do you hold?

We hold flower girls, jewellery, hair pieces, bridal storage boxes, travel boxes and veils.

What size dresses do you hold?

Although we would love to stock every dress in every size, it would be impossible so we stock dresses from 8-22. Some styles can be ordered upto a size 30. The dresses you try on won’t all fit perfectly but we’re a dab hand at pinning so you can see it at its best.
